10 Ways To Get Into The Holiday Spirit

There are a number of ways to get into the holiday spirit but each year it makes it MUCH more exciting to give it a special twist. Here are some of my favorites for 2012 which are not only guaranteed to make you ready for Christmas, but all the parties that go along with it 😉

1. Break out the Red Nail Lacquer

Part of the Art Deco Muse Collection, this Limited Edition polish by Laura Mercier in “Crimson” is the perfect festive shade yet deep enough for the winter season. I think it looks striking against white or black attire and has a most sultry quality. I also found that it goes on very smoothly, dries surprisingly fast, and after 2 days I am still chip free!

Also, since I love to be on trend, I gave my fourth finger a silver sparkle using Nicole By OPI’s “Stars at Night” from the brand NEW 2013 Selena Gomez Collection. By the way, I can’t wait to share the rest of this line with you… it’s pretty awesome!!!

You will also be happy to know that BOTH of these polishes do not contain formaldehyde, toluene, or dibutyl phthalate (DBP).

2. Get your Advent Calender Ready (and I’m not just talking about the chocolate kind)

Wow. When I received this beautiful gift from Loose Button (the genius luxury sampling service you MUST try) I felt like a giddy child again waiting to open her gifts. BUT I wanted the full experience like I used to haveerr still have with the ORIGINAL Advent Calendar made of chocolate. SO I am waiting until Dec.1st until I start uncovering each secret pocket. However, I know that these are some of the AMAZING finds tucked inside….

Side Note: Quite a few products are Armani which I must say made me very excited. It has quickly become one of my favorite cosmetic brands ever since my best friend introduced me to their Luminous Silk Foundation in 5.5 AND the blush in # 10. Just wow. And we’re not the only ones…apparently J.LO keeps a FULL STOCK. But back on track… :p

This makes for a perfect gift for a special friend or an even better gift for yourself 😉 since you pay a fraction of the price to try all these great brands before you would actually make a full-sized purchase. Now I know these calenders sold out fast BUT not to worry, this is a monthly luxe service you can always sign up for 🙂

3. Start Your Christmas Wish List

This is obviously my favorite thing to do providing there is someone special in my life that I can actually give this list to lol. Here are a few things I am lusting over for this Christmas:

  • This Chain & Chic Necklace from JoandCole $200–perfect for spring/summer glam…always great to think ahead 😉

I could definitely go on, but now it’s your turn :). Just leave your list around as a not so subtle hint to whoever is buying so there won’t have to be any gift returning!

4. DIY your own Christmas Tree

This mega simple DIY is fun, cost-effective, and is guaranteed to get you in the Christmas spirit. Not to mention its SO pretty and you can get as creative as you want with it. All you need is some colored yarn (green if you want to stay classic; but I think red and silver would be beautiful too), glue, a piece of cardboard, and mini decorative pieces (you can get all kinds of cool things at the dollar store).

  • First, Roll the cardboard into a cone and cover with plastic wrap– you can decide on how big/small you want to make your tree depending on the size of your cardboard.
  • Then, Dip the yarn in glue and just keeping wrapping it around.
  • Next, Let dry and remove cone.
  • Last, Decorate!

5. Get a Slammin’ Pair of Winter Boots–Who says comfy can’t be cute?

I LOVE these Black “Joan of Arctic” Sorel Boots!! They are SO comfortable and I am always proud to rock them. I probably get the most use out of these than any other boot I have. I absolutely adore the faux fur snow cuff at the top while the waterproof black suade and bronzed rings just top it off. It’s the perfect boot since its stylish, provides all around comfort, and its so versatile. Not to mention your feet will actually be kept WARM and DRY no matter what the elements this season.

Sorel has always been a favorite of mine and I definitely would choose “Joan of Arctic” as the signature winter boot of 2012/2013 🙂

(You can buy it online for $220 at

And Sorel is also très popular with celebs, love these casual looks:

6. Bake some Holiday Treats

Baking will always get you in the mood. Just pump up the Holiday tunes and stimulate your senses with some delicious baked treats. These also make for cute, inexpensive gifts (as long as you do the baking the night before you plan to gift give, and wrap it nicely! :))

These looked so incredible I had to share…
