Last week kicked off as back-to-school for teens and adults alike, myself included! It’s almost as if the weather has automatically taken a turn as well, with light trendy jackets and Fall booties a must. In the spirit of this transition, I’ve compiled an essential guide for back-to-school fashion, beauty, and a super fun DIY at the end 🙂
1. Embrace the DARK
Everyone knows that dark nails go into high trend come Fall, and OPI has the perfect collection for it.
OPI has recently released their San Francisco Collection which combines chic style and West Coast flair. It consists of a unique range of blues, grays, reds, and browns inspired by some of the city’s most iconic elements, while perfectly complementing the Fall season. There is also a great mix of textures whether you’re in the mood for something matte, glossy, liquid sand, and even one that reflects! You’ll easily be on trend with this collection and it nicely transitions to complement winter attire as well (especially the ruby reds and dark shades of blue).
The best way to describe this collection is high fashion meets eclectic street style with a side of urban sophistication.
$10.95 CAN each
2. A Fab Statement Jacket
Everybody needs one. Rudsak has some stellar trendy pieces for Fall/Winter ’13–here are a few of my favorites that have just launched!
3. Pearly Whites in 60 Seconds
Lets face it, school consumes A LOT of your time. So when beauty rituals become more efficient and just as good, I’m all for it! GLO Science has released a first-of-its-kind, whitening system that is clinically proven to improve the whiteness of your teeth by 3-5 shades in just two weeks (only 60 seconds a day) without messy strips and zero sensitivity. It is the amazing GLO Solo, which also comes in the sleekest travel case if you’re about on-the-go maintenance. It’s so easy to use–wipe-on and wipe-off. You notice a gradually whiter smile each time!
A fresh day scent is a school essential–why not enjoy a blend from one of your favorite singers? Each of these perfumes are young, hot, and hip, just like their creators!
Justin Bieber’s “The Key” just launched this August 2013 and is a fruity floral musk that has the power to awaken your senses in more ways than one. It is bursting with juicy fruits, sensual musks, and decadent vanilla…and will always leave you wanting more! Which is what I’m sure “the Biebs” intended 😉
Available at Shoppers Drug Mart (Aug ’13) as well as Sears, Jean Coutu, London Drugs, Sephora, and Pharma Plus Ltd (in Jan ’14)
The new “Taylor by Taylor Swift” was revealed this July 2013 and is just as unforgettable as her former fragrance, “Wonderstruck” (one of the best selling celebrity fragrances in 2011). It is crafted from luscious fruits, blushing florals, and soft wood, providing a classic feel that is completely alluring. Its playful and sophisticated all-in-one….and definitely one of my faves this year!
Available at Shoppers Drug Mart (July ’13) as well as Sears, Jean Coutu, London Drugs, Sephora, and Pharma Plus Ltd (in Dec ’13). $78/ 100ml
Last, One Direction’s DEBUT fragrance called “Our Moment” hits stores this Sept/October 2013 and is sparkling, juicy, and feminine (as I’m sure you can tell by the bottle). It is made up of splashes of fresh fruit and seasonal flowers infused with undertones of warm musk. It’s both enticing and playful.
Available at Shoppers Drug Mart and prestige retailers. $70/100 ml
5. DIY Glitter Pencils
Normal pencils are boring. There is nothing like a little glitz and glam to add to your academic life, so I’ve put together a little DIY tutorial with only a few simple items and minutes to complete! Just follow these steps below:
1. You’ll need:
- MOD PODGE (available at Michael’s Craft Stores)
- Glitter of your choice
- A small paint brush
- Pencils (and any other school item you’d like to cover in glitter)
2. Pour out some glitter, dip your brush in some MOD PODGE.
3. Add glue to the metallic part of your pencil.
4. Roll in glitter (you can also sprinkle the glitter on while turning your pencil in hand).
5. Place your finished pencils to dry for about 20 minutes.
6. Enjoy your new glam school accessory! I got excited and also did my pencil sharpener as you can see in the photo below 🙂 The point is to have fun with it and allow yourself to get creative.
