If you are like most women, you love to use and experiment with make-up. It is great for giving your face a boost of color and hiding imperfections. The issue with make-up is that it often contains irritating ingredients and fillers that our faces just do not need. Purchasing make-up in a store can also cost quite a bit of money, especially if you experiment and add to your collection often. Luckily there are some make-up recipes you can try in the comfort of your own home. Creating your own make-up can be a fun hobby. Plus, you will save money and know exactly what is going on your face.
You can easily create a customized face powder that will absorb excess oil and leave your skin looking soft and smooth. All you need is arrowroot powder, cornstarch, rice flour, and cocoa powder, all of which can usually be found at a natural food store. Combine 1/2 cup arrowroot powder, 1/4 cup cornstarch, and 1/4 cup rice flour in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Ensure all ingredients are mixed thoroughly, using the back of a spoon to break any larger particles if necessary. Gradually mix in 1 to 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder, until your desired shade is achieved. Apply to your face using a large brush, tapping away excess before application. Store your powder in air-tight containers for up to 6 months, and shake well before each use.
Arrowroot powder is known to have smoothing effects, cornstarch absorbs oil, rice flour fights blemishes and evens pigmentation, and cocoa powder has anti-oxidants which are great for the skin. You will love how good your skin looks and feels after using this natural face powder.
Blush can give your cheeks a beautiful, rosy glow. You can make your own blush at home using the juice of cherries, beets, strawberries, or any other juicy fruit or vegetable. Just extract the juice from your fruit or vegetable of choice and combine a few drops with a little aloe vera gel. Mix until you get the shade you are looking for. Apply to cheeks evenly and allow the blush to dry. You can make this blush fresh each time you wish to use it, or make a batch and store it in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Lips look great when they have a little color or shine to them. You can make your own colored lip gloss with natural ingredients. All you need is 2 tablespoons of a light oil, such as sweet almond or sunflower, 1 tablespoon grated beeswax, and 1/8 to 1 teaspoon dried beet powder. Combine the oil and beeswax in small microwavable bowl, and heat until melted. You can also do this over low heat on the stove. Add the beet powder, a little at a time, until you reach your desired color. You may have to test as you go, but that is the fun part. When you are satisfied, spoon the lip stain into a small covered container and use within a month.
If you want a different colored lip gloss, you can usually find various dried fruit and vegetable powders at a health food store. Use the same way as you would the beet powder. You can also add different essential oils to give your lip gloss a fragrance and added benefits. If you choose to do so, add only 1 to 2 drops at a time. You will love the way your homemade lip gloss makes your lips feel and look.
