“73 percent of women say it’s challenging to find the right foundation” — are you one of them?
This is not surprising since there are so many slight variations between shades of foundation. From pink, beige, and golden undertones, to the fact that your skin can actually change by up to four shades at different times of the year! If you keep the same shade of foundation going all year long, chances are you’ve got a noticeable foundation mismatch.
That is, your face probably isn’t matching the skin of your neck and chest–and this is a beauty DON’T.
Given all of this room for error, Make Up For Ever has launched their Foundation Nation Campaign which aims to help women everywhere with their top foundation challenges. Celebrity makeup artist Troy Jensen was even brought in to deliver us his very own expert tips. Here are a few I found to be very helpful:
- Full coverage makeup can look a little dull or lifeless. Healthy golden hues will add brightness to your skin.
- Prone to breakouts? Be sure to avoid red lipstick and go for coral or peach instead. Red will bring out redness and lighter hues will soften the rest of your complexion.
- Make a statement with the eyes and lips, NOT both.
- For tired eyes, add a light shimmer on the middle of the eyelid (that is what he’s doing for me below 🙂 ) You should also highlight at the top of your brow arch, directly under the brow, on the bridge of the nose, the tops of your cheekbones, and the edges of your jawline to brighten your complexion.
“It is also found that 62% of women have problems applying foundation, and 52% stated that they aren’t using a tool during application, which is likely to be causing at least part of their issues.”
Well this finding comes at a perfect time, since Make Up For Ever has just released their Artisan Brush Collection. It’s the introduction of seventy-six cutting-edge brushes, the most expansive luxury brush collection available to date. It was a 5-year process that included testing a variety of synthetic fibers that mimic the silky softness of natural hair and the construction of each brush involved 25 unique stages and hand-crafted by 30 people from start to finish!!! There are literally the BENTLEY of all cosmetic brushes. I kid you not. They are also environmentally friendly (something I always appreciate seeing) since real furs are spared.
“The brush is an extension of the hand and is a fundamental tool for a makeup artist, whether he is a professional or amateur makeup artist, his canvas is the face.” – Dany Sanz
The range is actually so extensive, going from everyday must-haves to the highest tools of the trade for utmost artistic precision. For example, there are brushes with wavy fibers and brushes with straight–wavy offering a lighter and freer application, while straight fibers create an application that’s more generous and precise. Even they handle of the brush has been specially crafted in a slanted form for easier product retrievals and faux lash applications!
Don’t know where to begin? Don’t fret!
The Artisan Brush Collection 2013 is classified in a way that is extremely practical for artists everywhere:
100s = complexion
200s = eyes
300s = lips
400s = artistic specially designed for professionals.
The range is then further categorized depending on textures or product type, and is given units to indicate the size of each brush.
