Schwarzkopf Toronto Event: Check out the Essential Looks Collection for Autumn/Winter 2012!

On Thursday, September 20th it was a lively afternoon at the Schwarzkopf ASK Academy in Toronto as top Media gathered such as Canadian Hairdresser Magazine, Beauty Bloggers (like yours truly :p), and Cityline–just to name a few–to witness the unveiling of Schwarzkopf’s much anticipated CATWALK TO SALON COLLECTION for this 2012 Fall/Winter season. Celebrity hair stylist Tyler Colton was present to demonstrate the latest catwalk trends that have been distilled into four NEW visual moods comprising the following ESSENTIAL LOOKS: Eccentric Heritage, 60 ́s Twist, Oriental Express and Neo Couture.

And then we also did enjoy a beautiful lunch…:)

Yum, yum!! Now back to the story 🙂

Responding to the HIGH demand from hair stylist’s wanting a more relatable, accessible and commercial take on the trends, the Schwarzkopf Professional team of hand-selected individuals have delivered their ingenious translation of the latest catwalk trends (combined from the London, Paris, Milan, and New York fashion weeks of course ;)) and created distinct styles with interpretations that are both aspirational and adaptable. Essentially, these styles define THE fashion trends of the moment, “creating a cultural snapshot and presenting a storybook of style,” all of which can be achieved on the more commercial level that is seen in salons and subsequently mainstream fashions.

So what are these hot new looks exactly?! Well there are four “moods” which I love since your choice can really reflect your personality. First, there is:

On the Autumn/Winter runways traditional looks were twisted, shaken and subverted. Plundering the past for inspiration, designers mashed up military detailing with country attire and ladylike chic to great visual effect. Hair is classic with a twist. Long and luxe, it mixes rich autumnal tones of caramel, gold and chocolate with concise cuts and truly intense shine.

Next, there’s a chic 60’S TWIST

From Carnaby Street to Camden Town via the left bank and Warhol’s NYC Factory, this season’s nod to the iconic 60’s was multifaceted, but always with a young, cool edge. Strong, streamlined looks and silhouettes were referenced on the runways, and hair embraces the revolutionary spirit of the 60’s, going shorter, brighter and blonder. Styles run from precision cut blunt bobs and elfin crops, to softer face framing fringes and mussed up beehives.

or you can hypnotize with ORIENTAL EXPRESS:

This trend’s inspiration draws from Karate and Kimonos to Yoko Ono circa 1970. Some takes were more glamorous, whilst some incorporated intellectual seductive styles with bold digital prints. Hair pays homage to the Orient with sleek, sharp, cheekbone grazing cuts juxtaposed with high shine. Colour only intensifies the fervor with intense reds creating a hypnotic mix of sophistication and simmering sensuality.

and last but not least you can go extreme with NEO COUTURE:

This season fashion writers from across the globe were furiously scribing ‘androgynous, futuristic, powerful, strong.’ Black, black, black and with a hint of black was the colour palette for this trend, with strict, sharp lines echoing the edgy vibe. Hair is dominated by moody blues, blacks, greys and wild reds, complementing the androgynous close crops and undercuts. Textures are extreme, from ultra slick to super sticky.

To go with the ESSENTIAL LOOKS COLLECTION are also some ESSENTIAL new products offered by Schwarzkopf to make them easier to achieve (as well as some awesome gift ideas!):

Schwarzkopf BC Color Save Collectionmaintains 100% color SHINE and 90% color INTENSITY, um wow. It really does. We all want that fresh out of the salon look and this can help you maintain it.

Newly formulated BC Color Save will be available October 2012 at Schwarzkopf Professional partner salons exclusively.

Schwarzkopf Professional also presents OSiS+ Rough Rubber AND OSiS Dust It !

OSiS+ ROUGH RUBBER is the first product with a unique rubber consistency that mattifies and roughens up the hair structure for natural long lasting distressed looks. The consistency of the innovative rubber paste offers a high level of control even with thicker hair, but won’t weigh down fine hair or leave any residues. You can create countless styles with this handy little thing! (Avail. Feb 2013)

While Schwarzkopf Professional’s OSiS Dust It is a revolutionary hair powder that fits into hectic and chic lifestyles to rev up manes without having to wash and condition locks daily. Whether we’re dashing from the gym or rushing to an early morning meeting, OSiS Dust It is the right fit for our hectic schedules. We want shine NOT oily hair, so this baby will keep it that way. Schwarzkopf Professional introduces six limited-edition Gift Sets for Holiday 2012 benefiting their Shaping Futures Initiative (love that)-these are such wonderful holiday gift ideas!! The cases sold it for me since they’re high-quality and sleek–perfect for travel even once you’ve used up all the product.

Wrapped in a chic fold-over travel case and already sealed with a bow, the six new BC Beauty Bags feature assortments of Schwarzkopf Professional’s best-selling BC product lines to accommodate anyone on your naughty and nice list.
