Three Tips for Choosing the Right Pair of Glasses

Anyone who has ever searched for the right pair of glasses knows how dizzying the shopping process can be. It seems like it would be simple enough to pick up a pair of glasses that are attractive and that suit your needs; however, there are actually innumerable different factors that can determine whether or not a certain pair of glasses is right for you.

This does not mean that shopping for new glasses has to be difficult. All that you have to do is keep the following tips in mind as you proceed with your search. By adhering to these guidelines, you can approach the shopping process in an organized and efficient manner, making your search a more pleasurable experience for all persons involved.

Tip One: Know What You Are Looking For

It can be tempting to walk into an accessories store with no other intention but to find a pair of glasses that you like. However, if this is how you begin your shopping process, it will be days, weeks, or even months before you finally locate something ideal.

Before you even step foot into a store, you should have a clear idea of the purpose that you wish your new glasses to serve. For instance, you could look for:

-Functional, everyday frames for vision correction purposes

-Sunglasses for protection when driving or outdoors

-Purely fashion-oriented accessories to match a specific outfit

By having an idea of what you will use your glasses for, you will find it easier to create necessary criteria for your new frames, thus narrowing down your search.

Tip Two: Try it On

Once you have outlined the basic qualities that your new glasses must have, you should try on a variety of different pairs that meet these requirements. Do not be afraid to try frames that seem unusual or unflattering on the rack; oftentimes, it is impossible to get a true idea of an accessory’s appearance until you see it on yourself. You may be surprised at which designs feel the most comfortable or at which style flatters your face.

Tip Three: Be Familiar with Fit

Many different factors influence glasses’ suitability for a particular person. For instance, frame shape will have a distinct effect on the manner in which the glasses sit on your face.

This can be incredibly important when shopping for new glasses. You should be able to determine how the appearance of a pair of glasses will suit you by trying them on at the store; however, good fit is essential in order for your new frames to be a practical choice for you, and this can be more difficult to judge when you can only briefly try them on. For example, if you have a relatively flat nose bridge, then a pair of glasses without nose pads will likely slip and slide around your face as you go about your daily routine. Unfortunately, it can be nearly impossible to judge this while in a store because you will be standing still as you try on your glasses.

For this reason, you should always purchase glasses with good return policies until you are familiar with what types of glasses are suitable for your face.
