Top 5 Natural Beauties of Costa Rica

Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful nations on earth, as collected in its small borders is some of the most amazing scenery and man-made wonders imaginable. This means that whatever the tourist is looking for here, they are bound to find it in abundance.

Playa Conchal
Playa Conchal is consistently voted as the best beach in the whole of Costa Rica, and for very good reasons. Its name comes from the huge amounts of shells that can be found here as the tide comes in, which are then crushed into tiny fragments over the years. This gives the beach a beautiful color and ensures that those that visit will never forget their experience. In addition to the beautiful sand, the water is also the most pristine blue imaginable – something that is often not found on the Pacific Coast of Central America. It is a perfect place to go snorkeling, with a huge amount of sea life living by the shore.

Corcovado National Park
This stunning park is the last enclave of rainforest in the whole of Central America, and as such it is home to some of the rarest animals on earth. There are also several other types of habitats included within the park’s boundaries, including mangrove swamps and cloud forest. These different areas mean that wherever the visitor goes, they are confronted with a new and stunning scene of the natural world. Although the park has suffered logging in the past, it still stands as one of the most unspoiled areas on earth.

Rincon de la Vieja Volcano
Although many people wouldn’t class a volcano as a “beautiful” sight, this one is one of the most awe-inspiring sights in the whole world. It is an active volcano with bubbling pools of lava and thermal pools, complemented by sedate waterfalls that flow down its edge. If anyone thinks that a volcano is unable to take one’s breath away, then this location will make them eat their words.

Tortuguero
Tortuguero is a beautiful location in its own right, but it is what occurs here that really takes it to the next level in terms of the impression it will leave on the visitor. They will marvel at the sight that occurs most nights, where turtles crawl on to the shore and lay their eggs in the same place that they have done so for many years. Lucky visitors may even get to see the babies emerge and make their first tentative steps down towards the sea.

Dia de la Raza
This is a festival that takes place every year in Puerto Limon, more specifically on October 12th. This festival celebrates the landing of Columbus on their shores many years ago and basically incorporates five days of spectacular costumes, dancing and music. The tourist that sees this spectacle will be amazed at the beauty of the colorful parades and with the spirit of the locals as they celebrate one of the most important days in their calendar with “total gusto”.
