A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of experiencing the hottest new fashion boutique in Yorkville–Pomp & Pageantry! This hidden gem opened its doors this past August 2012 and since then has drawn in fashion lovers, trend-setters, and style-seekers all over the city (including myself ). Set-up as a luxurious closet with vintage trinkets, long mirrors, rare jewels, and it’s walls lined with the most unique fashion finds, it brings back the true meaning of boutique. As their logo suggests, it really is a “fashion maven’s paradise,” just take a look below:
Not only does their boutique offer a more private and chic atmosphere to shop (have I mentioned I dread malls and department stores?), but their personalized services and attentiveness top the icing on the cake. Owner, Shellie Willms, gave me the invaluable experience of dressing me from head to toe in the latest fashions–personal styling is a complimentary service here. Her fashionable eye put together pieces that suited me perfectly in variations that I would have never thought of myself. Not only that, her beautiful personality made it such an enjoyable experience, it felt like I was visiting my best friend’s closet. Her graciousness as a host did not even stop there, I enjoyed high tea made in store while I tried on outfit after outfit. Needless to say, I stayed awhile
Take a look below at some of my awesome new outfits!
While I was there, Shellie taught me the concept of layering, something I haven’t really tried before. *By the way, my idea of fashion was just brand names and tight clothes that fit my body type, but it’s SO much more than that.* For the first look, she paired these stunning Rachel Sin sequin pants (one of the hottest trends of the season) with a white bamboo tank (the bamboo fibers feel beautiful on skin) under a slightly over sized beige/pink Pinkyotto silk tank. The necklace is a mixed metal tribal that comes from a line out of Brazil called SIBILIA. Below you’ll see I’ve also thrown on a black blazer with leather quilted shoulder pads and I’m wearing black Christian Louboutin suede daffodile booties.
Oh it didn’t stop there. Ironically, before I stumbled onto Pomp & Pageantry I was scouring stores for a leather panel dress. And here I found TWO –this black and camel leather panel dress is by “LOVE ZOOEY.” I especially love it because the cut creates a perfect womanly figure, while the unique color contrast is eye-capturing. Pair it with denier tights and black booties for a fall/winter look or leave your legs bare and wear patent heels.
This next black leather dress is by “WISH.” I adore it because it has long-sleeves and you won’t have to carry a shawl or wear a jacket all night to stay warm. It lets you show off your curves while feeling comfortable and fashion-forward doing it. I paired it again with the mixed metal necklace, which you’ll see in the next few photos is SO versatile. By the way, Shellie’s pieces are so unique and come from ALL over the GLOBE, she works so hard to curate them. This is what makes her boutique a diamond in the rough.
Same pieces, different ways? Oh ya, that’s what make them so great. This electric blue blazer by ALYTHEA is one of them, I decided to wear it open though afterwards .
Everybody needs a black lace dress. This one by Pinkyotto is form-fitting, classy and sexy all at once. I love the little lace shoulder sleeves, especially for the colder days. Since this dress is simple and elegant, you can also modify the look and add a skinny colored belt to change it up for certain occasions.
After a few exciting hours, this spectacular afternoon came to an end and I proudly left with a ton of fresh fashion finds (a few of which are not posted, follow me on instagram for updates ) Shellie’s exceptional service and attention to detail didn’t end there–she also gifted me with a personalized Pomp & Pageantry bottle of Merlot with my purchase. And what made me the happiest that day? Knowing that I’ve found the BEST place in Toronto to spend an afternoon
